When this photo was taken I was fifteen years old and had just graduated from junior high school.

A Baby Bull in the making. Here I am as a sixteen-year-old with my City Taxi team (back row, second from left). One scout called me a “young Josh Gibson.”

Here I am (front row, left), eighteen and hopeful, in 1956. What a year! My second season of professional ball I won the Northern League Triple Crown at St. Cloud in Class C (.393, 26 home runs, 112 RBIs). Despite these lofty numbers, the Giants wanted to move me up just one notch to Class B for the 1957 season.
